Shannon Dove Pritchard, LPC, CATP
Professional Counselor
Shannon Pritchard is a licensed professional counselor with over 25 years of experience in working with children and teens from the ages 3 to 18. She specializes in Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT), which is a non-directive, play-based intervention for kids aged 3-14. It focuses on four universal outcomes, which are: increased emotional regulation, increase in self-esteem, increased worldview, and increased feelings vocabulary. A hallmark of CCPT is unconditional acceptance of the child where the child feels seen, heard and understood and where the therapist is emotionally attuned to the child throughout the duration of the play session.
Shannon was trained by Dr. Brenna Hicks, a renowned expert in CCPT who has written many publications related to CCPT. Brenna also offers a play therapy parenting podcast, which provides a wealth of knowledge to parents seeking to help their child thrive. You can find her here: https://www.playtherapyparenting.com/
As a part of your child’s program, you as a parent, will receive parental coaching in Parent-Child Relational Therapy (PCIT) as well as regular feedback on your child’s progress. This is also an opportunity for you to ask questions and for us to collaborate on how to help your child at home.
Whether your child is navigating anxiety, trauma or just big feelings they just don’t have words for, Shannon is here to provide a safe and supportive environment for your child to grow, thrive and heal through the power of play.
